If someone asks what you do, could you answer without using the words "solutions," "passion," or "innovative"?

I'm Sofia Almeida, a copywriter in Portugal. I like that question because it usually gets us closer to the useful part of a business: who it helps, what it does, and why someone would care. It is also the question I'm asking myself as I start on Doop. A new profile is a chance to be clear before getting clever.

I've chosen to try Doop because I want to write in a place where people are sharing their work and looking for professional connections. I enjoy the quick exchanges on social platforms, but I also want room for a conversation that goes beyond a catchy opening line. Here, I hope to meet the people behind the businesses and understand what they find difficult to explain.

That could be a designer describing a service, a maker introducing a product, or a consultant whose expertise is much easier to demonstrate than summarise. Good writing starts with paying attention to those details. I don't want this page to become a collection of grand claims that could belong to absolutely anyone.

My plan for the Feed is to share small, practical writing exercises. For example, take one sentence from your profile and ask whether a stranger would understand it. Replace an abstract promise with a specific description. Read a sales paragraph aloud and notice where you run out of breath. These are simple ways to begin a conversation about clearer communication.

I'll also share examples of how a message changes depending on its job. A profile needs to introduce you. A post should give someone a reason to keep reading. A service description needs to help them decide whether to ask a question. Expecting one clever sentence to do all three jobs is asking quite a lot of it.

Building my own brand here means doing that work in public, patiently. I want my name, profile, and posts to feel connected, while leaving room for curiosity and a little humour. I would rather become known for explaining things well than for sounding impressive every time I appear in someone's Feed.

I hope that useful conversations can eventually turn into collaborations and paid writing work. Before that, I need to make the basics clear: what I can help with, how a project starts, and what a client needs to bring to the conversation. Joining Doop gives me a place to begin; it doesn't remove the work of earning trust.

I'll be reading other people's posts too, especially when someone is trying to put a complicated idea into ordinary language. Sometimes a helpful reply is more valuable than publishing another opinion of my own.

So, a small invitation for my first post: describe what you do in one sentence, as if you were explaining it to someone outside your profession. What part is hardest to make clear? I'd love to hear the version you actually say aloud, rather than the one sitting untouched in your bio.
