This is quite true, and this way of thinking can actually apply on other fields such as engineering and design. Instead of forcing solutions to fit, we need to first ask if that's even the right fit first. #thinkRight #DoopSocial
Zara Bakare@zarabakareBefore asking for a closer fit, try sitting down in it.It sounds obvious, but a fitting can turn into five minutes of standing very still in front of a mirror. Then the outfit has to deal with a whole day of reaching, walking, eating and getting in and out of a car.
A few things I would check:
• Can you reach forward without the back pulling?
• Does the waistband still feel comfortable when you sit?
• Can you walk at your normal pace?
• Does the neckline stay where you want it when you move?
Try it with the shoes and underwear you actually plan to wear, too. Those small choices can change how a garment sits.
A little room for movement is part of the fit. I want clothes to feel considered when someone is living in them, as well as when they stop for a photograph.
